The extension panel has now been updated

The Flash extension panel has been updated to 0.5, and has fixed an bug with viewing favourites.

Download it now, and start viewing your favourites from within the extension.

Two new features billed for the next update are to auto-load your favourites and to filter between viewing either as2 or as3 snippets.

If there are any updates that you feel you want to see then why not add them to the comments and i’ll see what I can do

flCodr on the iPhone?

We have just launched an iPhone optimised version of the flCodr site for you lucky people. Simply point your mobile Safari over to www.flcodr.com/iphone to check it out.

At the moment there is no search function, but this (should) is coming soon.

You may be wondering why you would need to look up actionscript on an iPhone when it has no Flash functions, but this was simply a way to learn new skills.

Hope you like it!!

New feeds added

Just a quick note to let you all know that a number of new RSS feeds have been added.

These are

  • author feed - can be viewed after clicking on an author name
  • category feed -  can be viewed after clicking on the category name
  • tag feed - can be viewed after clicking on the tag name (only from snippet detail page)

Hopefully these new feeds will make it easier to stay updated to snippets on the site

Update!!

There is a new version of the Flash extension available for download.

Go to www.flcodr.com/download.php to get it.

This version adds an auto update function which displays a message when there is an update available

We’re in Web Designer Mag

The latest issue of Web Designer Mag recently landed on my door mat and I was pleasantly surprised to see some of my work included in the mag and on their promotional disc.

I was contacted by the editor a month or two ago about flCodr - the online repository for actionscript snippets. The site allows you to add and view snippets of actionscript code, perfect for when you can’t remember how to parse XML.

Web Designer Mag say that:

flCodr.com is a repository of code that has been placed in a single centralised location for quick and easy access. The site works by providing a simple search facility to find snippets of code. For instant access, introduce the flCodr search plug-in to your browser. Add a search term, click a link and you are ready to copy and paste the code.

I couldn’t have put it better myself. I’m really chuffed that I managed to make it to both the mag and the disc!

Head on over to their site to view the mag and subscribe. It’s well worth the money as each month it’s full of tips, tutorials and assets to make your creations even better!

Twitter

Just a post to let you know that flCodr is now on twitter. Why not follow us at http://www.twitter.com/flcodr

Each time a new post is added a tweet is automatically added. The code to do this can be found on the Twitter api

A few more goodies!

Hey,

Just to let you know, there are a few more treats for you:

  • You can now add comments to snippets. Just sign in and write away.
  • There is a new search plugin, so that you can search for snippets without even having to go to the site. To install in FF and IE, click on the drop down arrow in your search bar and click add flCodr, nice!!
  • New forum where you can discuss what ever you like (within reason). Post any Flash related stuff there.

Stay tuned for even more stuff, as the site gets better

It beta be good!!

There is a new beta on the way for the Flash extension panel. I’ve not been able to spend as much time developing the panel as the weather has been great the last few days (any excuse to get the shorts and BBQ out). Anyway, here are the features that I will be adding:

  • Improvements to the interface - it will be clearer to see the version and author.
  • A new feature which allows you to view the snippet in your browser, so you can add it to your favourites (this will be integrated into the panel at some stage).
  • Bug fixes with data transfer - self explanatory

I also hope to launch an API (or sort of) that will allow you to develop your own plugins and tools which hook up with the flCodr database. This will be using XML and Flash, but you could extend this to anything as long as you can read XML. Look out for this soon. Until then, please keep spreading the world about us!!

We’re on Iconfinder

It has a host of nice features such as Browser search plugin and desktop widgets to make it even easier to find icons. Head over there now to check it out.
